Production of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from titanium ores: A review
Titanium (Ti) is the ninth most abundant element on earth. The titanium mineral ores are widely distributed in different parts of the world. The two main ores of titanium include rutile (TiO2) and ilmenite (FeO.TiO2). It is aimed to provide the readers with an insight to the main processes currently employed to extract and recover titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from different titanium ores. Due...
متن کاملPreparation of titanium dioxide (TiO2) from sludge produced by titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) flocculation of wastewater.
Sludge disposal is one of the most costly and environmentally problematic challenges of modern wastewater treatment worldwide. In this study, a new process was developed, which has a significant potential for lower cost of waste disposal, protection of the environment and public health, and yield of economically useful byproducts. Titanium oxide (TiO2), which is the most widely used metal oxide...
متن کاملTitanium tetrachloride burns to the eye.
We present eight cases of chemical burns of the eyes from titanium tetrachloride, an acidic corrosive liquid. However it causes severe chemical burns which have a protracted course and features more akin to severe alkali burns. Injuries related to titanium tetrachloride should be treated seriously and accordingly appropriate management is suggested.
متن کاملOne pot synthesis of cis-bispyrimidodiazepinone derivatives via low-valent titanium reagent (TiCl4/Sm).
An efficient and convenient method for the preparation of cis-bispyrimidodiazepinone derivatives has been described. A variety of substrates can participate in the process with good yields, making this methodology suitable for library synthesis in drug discovery efforts. The mechanistic course of the reaction suggests the involvement of reduction, coupling which determine the products' configur...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of Titania Nanoparticles from Titanium Tetrachloride and Titanium Sulfate Flocculation of Dye Wastewater
Pollutants in dye wastewater significantly vary due to the large number of dyes and other chemical compounds used in dyeing processes. The major compounds in dye wastewater are desizing and scouring agents, bleaches, reducing agents, detergents and wetting agents, finishing agents, organic acids and dyes, and fluorescent brighteners1). Physical, chemical and biological methods have been applied...
